Introduction

Sensei Graham and the ESKA Stevenage Team extend a very warm welcome to you and your family…

A club that has been established since 1976 and has been a part of the English Shotokan Karate Association (ESKA) since 1979.  ESKA Stevenage is one of 23 clubs affiliated with ESKA across Herts, Beds and Essex (See ESKA website).

When you join ESKA Stevenage, you are not only becoming a part of a well disciplined club that has been part of the community for decades, you are being very much welcomed into a new family.

Our teachings follow the path of traditional Japanese Shotokan and can be historically traced back to Gichin Funakoshi, the father of modern day karate.

On a quarterly basis, ESKA clubs come together at the Stevenage Dojo (Club Honbu – Head training facility) to champion their Karate-Ka to demonstrate they are worthy of belt promotion.  This is achieved by Karate-Ka performing syllabus driven Karate Kihon (Basic techniques), Kata (Set sequence of techniques) and Kumite (Set Defence & Counter and controlled sparring).

• I hereby acknowledge that the nature of the class that I and (or) my child are about to take, I (we) do so at our own risk. I have completed the medical conditions to the best of my knowledge and advised the club of any special medication. I agree to purchase a karate license after four weeks of training for insurance purposes via the ESKA Portal. I understand the clubs photo/video policy and will not use the skills taught in Karate except for self-defence of myself, family and friends when in situations of extreme danger or unprovoked attack.

• Can you please ensure that any special medication required for training such as inhalers etc are carried with the participant at all times. Unfortunately, students who do not have appropriate medication with them will not be able to participate in the lesson. Please ensure young children have visited the toilet prior to a karate session.
