Karate, The Belts

ESKA Stevenage beginners start training in loose clothing for the first month to ensure the martial art is truly for them.  Once the passion for the art is found and karate-ka choose to join the ESKA Stevenage family they don a white gi and belt to begin their karate journey.

ESKA gradings are held once every quarter at the Stevenage Leisure Centre with the first grading starting at 10th Kyu and Blue Belt for both Junior and Adult Karate-Ka.  As students progress in their knowledge of the ESKA syllabus they are invited to grade for their next belt.  Each grade is represented by a different colour belt and in some cases with the addition of coloured stripes.  Juniors have more belts than adults in order to better manage the syllabus difficulty as they progress towards black.
