Welcome to ESKA Stevenage
A very warm welcome to ESKA Stevenage… A club that has been established since 1976 and has been a part of the English Shotokan Karate Association (ESKA) since 1979. ESKA Stevenage is one of 23 clubs affiliated with ESKA across Herts, Beds and Essex (See ESKA website).
When you join ESKA Stevenage, you are not only becoming a part of a well disciplined club that has been part of the community for decades, you are being very much welcomed into a new family.
Our teachings follow the path of traditional Japanese Shotokan and can be historically traced back to Gichin Funakoshi, the father of modern day karate.
On a quarterly basis, ESKA clubs come together at the Stevenage Dojo (Club Honbu – Head training facility) to champion their Karate-Ka to demonstrate they are worthy of belt promotion. This is achieved by Karate-Ka performing syllabus driven Karate Kihon (Basic techniques), Kata (Set sequence of techniques) and Kumite (Set Defence & Counter and controlled sparring).
